Snusfri ("Snusfri", "we", "us", or "our") is a recovery support app that helps people quit snus and nicotine pouches, as well as cigarettes and alcohol, through motivation and progress tracking. Snusfri is a support and tracking tool only — it is not medical treatment, medical advice, or a healthcare service.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Snusfri iOS app, why we collect it, how we store and protect it, and the rights you have over it. Snusfri is provided by an individual developer; in this policy we refer to the provider as "the Snusfri team".
By using Snusfri, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
We collect only the data needed to run your account, track your progress, and operate the community. We do not require your real name. The data we collect is:
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), including Norway and Sweden, we rely on the following legal bases under the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
| Data / purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Account creation, sign-in, and providing the app's core features (account, onboarding answers, progress data, community content) | Performance of a contract (our Terms with you) |
| Optional uploaded photos and push notifications | Consent (you choose to upload or to enable notifications; you can withdraw at any time) |
| Keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and content moderation (reports, blocking, auto-hiding) | Legitimate interests in operating a safe community |
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (for example, by turning off notifications or deleting an uploaded photo). Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
Your data is stored in Supabase, hosted in the European Union (Stockholm region, eu-north-1). We use a small number of service providers ("processors") that handle data only on our behalf and under our instructions:
| Processor | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database (PostgreSQL), authentication, and file storage | EU (Stockholm) |
| Expo | Delivery of push notifications (only if you enable notifications) | Service provider |
| Apple | App distribution via the App Store; in-app subscription billing if/when paid plans go live | Service provider |
Note: Real payment processing is not active yet. Paid subscriptions (via RevenueCat, billed through Apple) are planned for a future update. This policy will be updated before any paid plans launch.
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and you continue to use Snusfri. When you delete your account, your account and all associated personal data are permanently deleted (see Section 8). We may retain limited information for a short period where required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our Terms, after which it is deleted.
We protect your data using Row Level Security (RLS) in our database. This means each user can access only their own private data (such as account details, onboarding answers, and progress). Community content is shared only among signed-in Snusfri users. Access is controlled by authentication, and data is transmitted over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to safeguard your information.
If you are in the EEA, you have the following rights under the GDPR:
Deleting your account in-app: You can permanently delete your account at any time directly in the app. Go to Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and all associated data, including onboarding answers, progress data, savings goals, uploaded photos, and your community content (cascade deletion). This action cannot be undone.
You can also edit much of your information directly in the app. For any other request relating to your rights, contact us at the address in Section 12.
Snusfri is intended for adults (17+) because it references nicotine and alcohol. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
Snusfri is operated from and hosted in the EU, with a primary focus on users in Norway and Sweden. If you access the app from outside the EU/EEA, please be aware that your data is stored and processed on servers located in the European Union. By using Snusfri, you understand that your information will be handled as described in this policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add features such as paid subscriptions. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Please review this policy periodically.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact the Snusfri team:
